He did, however, say that President Buhari did neither reject or approve the request.

In response to the Governors’ appeal, Buhari requested them to give him seven days to make a decision.

President Buhari’s request for one week to think is the result of a meeting he had with members of the Progressive Governors Forum in the State House on Friday, according to a statement posted by his media adviser, Garba Shehu.

Buhari said that he would tackle the cash crisis afflicting Nigerians within seven days, in accordance with the Central Bank of Nigeria’s (CBN) policy of replacing some outdated naira notes with new notes.

He said, “I will revert to the CBN and the Minting Company. There will be a decision one way or the other in the remaining seven days of the 10-day extension.”
