A Kano State Islamic school instructor (name withheld) is apparently being investigated for allegedly sleeping with and impregnating his students.
The cleric was said to have used his power to sexually attack the teenagers in his care. Following a succession of complaints against the erring priest, the state Sharia police, known as the Hisbah Board, has since taken action.
The institution where the suspect teaches, located in the state’s urban center, is owned by a late renowned priest in the state, according to news reports.

The Hisbah board revealed in their investigation on the subject that the teacher is the son of a late priest and had previously impregnated one of his students who he was forced to marry.
Sheikh Harun Ibn-Sina, commander of the Hisbah board, told Freedom Radio that the suspect did not stop there, but continued to deceive his students in the name of love and soiled several of them.
Preliminary investigation also found that the teacher conspired with his wife, whom he impregnated before marrying, to carry out the actions in their marital house.
It went on to say that after the teacher was invited, he gave information that proved the charges against him, and that further inquiry into the subject had begun. He promised that whatever action they took against the suspect would be made public.
In response to the development, Sulaiman Abubakar Sulaiman, an Islamic cleric in Kano, admonished parents against allowing their children to linger after school hours and advised them to always monitor their ties with their teachers.

The preacher also advised children to avoid any instructor who expressed interest in falling in love with them and to report him to their parents and school officials.
“This is the greatest betrayal; for a teacher to impregnate his students, not only in Islamic schools, even if it is in Western education schools. There is high respect and trust between students and their teachers, but these incidents have been happening these days,’‘ Sulaiman told Newsmen.
