Three police officers were killed by gunmen on Friday in the state’s Ihiala, Ihiala Local Government Area, according to the Police Command in Anambra.
The confirmation was contained in a statement released on Saturday in Awka by DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, the command’s spokesperson.
According to Ikenga, police officers from the Ihaila Area Command reacted to a distress call along Isheke Road in Ihaila on Friday at around 2.40 p.m. and found three bodies of fatally injured policemen.
He claimed that the armed individuals attacked the officers and set their vehicle on fire.

The cops who died, according to the statement, were employed by the Delta Police Command’s Explosives Ordinance Department (EOD).
According to him, the trio were on assignment en route to Abia when they were attacked in Ihiala area.
