Today in Abuja, the president, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retired), will support Bola Tinubu’s candidature for president as the APC’s standard bearer.

On Saturday, the APC candidate will hold two rallies in Kebbi and the Federal Capital Territory.
Festus Keyamo, the chief spokesperson for the APC presidential campaign council, told our correspondent over the phone that while the Kebbi rally is scheduled to start between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., the Abuja campaign would start between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m.

“The president will surely be campaigning with him here in Abuja, but I’m not sure if he’ll attend the event in Kebbi.

“On Sunday, Tinubu will also be having a town hall engagement with entrepreneurs and other professionals in the FCT. And on Tuesday, he will be in Imo State to continue his campaign,” he said.

The development is coming on the heel of Tinubu’s meeting with the president at his official residence at the State House last night.

The poster boy of the APC, who abandoned the ‘Meet the mentor’ dinner held in his honour by the Progressives Sisters Network at the International Conference Centre in Abuja, held a closed door meeting Buhari at 9.45 pm.
He told his audience that “I have a superior appointment. Late yesterday, the president called that I should be at his place by 9.45 pm Friday evening.

“What do I do? Cancel it and disobey my president? And it is a command, more or less. (He said) see me at 9.45pm.

“I can’t say I would boycott this event or downgrade it. I have got to be here to, first of all, seek your seek your understanding.
“That is why there is always a pair for races like this. I have a vice presidential candidate.”

Although the agenda of the meeting was not made public, sources said that it may not be unconnected with logistics and last minute strategies for his campaign.
