Simon Ekpa: No Group Can Stop 2023 Elections In South East – Military

Despite threats from criminal elements, the military has promised Nigerians that the 2023 elections will be held peacefully in the Southeast states and throughout the country.

The guarantee was given by General Lucky Irabor, Chief of Defence Staff, at the 25th edition of President Muhammadu Buhari Scorecard Series in Abuja.

According to NAN, the issue featured Minister of Defence Bashir Magashi, who gave the ministry’s scorecard.

Why Gunmen Are Killing Security Operatives Across South East

In response to a question on the Simon Ekpa-led wing of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) threatening to disrupt this year’s general elections in the southeast states, Irabor stated no person or group could do so.

He said: “The armed forces are working in concert with the Police and other security agencies to ensure that the menace of criminalities from IPOB and Eastern Security Network are eliminated.”

Irabor also backed with Magashi’s claim that “no land in Nigeria is under the authority of Boko Haram or any other terrorist organisation.”

According to him, all villages in Nigeria’s North East have been freed of criminal groups.
