Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, governor of Enugu State, did not attend the presidential campaign rally of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) nominee, Atiku Abubakar, in the state.

This comes after Atiku reportedly snubbed the deputy governor of Enugu State, Mrs Cecelia Ezeilo, when she came to greet him during his campaign in the state, causing uproar.

After speaking for roughly 30 seconds at the stage, the former vice president snubbed the deputy governor who came to greet him.

Members of the party and citizens of the state also booed PDP national chairman Senator Iyiorcha Ayu when he advised them to vote for Atiku instead of Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi.

The deputy governor had asked the people of Enugu to continue doing what they were renowned for, as the party had won elections in Enugu since 1999.

When she stepped down from the podium, went to the VIP stand, and extended her hands to embrace Atiku, the former vice president waived her off. She turned around without shaking Atiku’s hand.

There was also a big outcry when the PDP national chairman, Senator Ayu, urged PDP members in the state to reject the LP presidential candidate and vote for the PDP.

He stated that voting for Peter Obi’s Labour Party means voting for the All Progressives Congress (APC), which obviously did not go down well with the Enugu residents.

‘Buhari Too Preoccupied To Attend All Tinubu’s Campaigns’

“I want to appeal to you not to be distracted by some people who would be asking you to vote for the Labour Party. I say this because a vote for the Labour Party is a vote for APC.

“Enugu is PDP and PDP is Enugu State. Enugu has always voted for the PDP. PDP is your DNA.

“I believe you are still going to vote PDP from top to bottom. Atiku will emerge victorious as president with Ifeanyi Okowa as his vice president”, Ayu said.

At the ceremony, Atiku emphasised that an Igbo guy could only become president after he had served his term as president.
