BREAKING: Gas Explosion Hits Effurun, Near Warri

Warri: At around 10.30 p.m. on Monday night, a big gas plant on the Effurun section of the Warri-Sapele route, Nelmic, caught fire.
At the time of publication, firemen were still struggling to put out the roaring inferno. According to unverified reports, some people may have died.

Gweke, a resident of the area, told the Vanguard that they saw balls of fire lit up the black sky from their dwellings, followed by a loud explosion.
“Several of us began racing out of our houses to see where the flames and explosion were coming from. We later discovered it came from a nearby gas plant.

The few vehicles on the busy Warri-Sapele road at that hour avoided that portion of the road.
