Delta Security Officer And One Other Were Found Dead 24 Hours To Election

Tensions rose in Asaba communities after a security officer and another person were discovered dead in the Ugbolu community, near Asaba, only 24 hours before Delta State’s General Election.

In the early hours of Friday, hoodlums thought to be Indigenous People of Biafra raided the town and killed two people, according to ANAEDOONLINE.NG.

The officer was allegedly beheaded and burned to death on Ugbolu mi-5 road with a motorcycle.
According to reports, IPOB activists were chanting and shooting anti-election slogans, resulting in the deaths of two people: a security officer and a civilian who were allegedly stabbed to death.
The bodies were discovered near the 63 Brigade Nigerian Army headquarters along Ugbolu road approximately 7:30 a.m.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Bright Edafe, confirmed the death but said only one dead body was found.

Edafe said the details of the killing of the unidentified man were yet-to-be-ascertained, saying, “we are investigating the matter”.

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Delta State Command said it deployed 2979 personnel to provide security for the general election.

The state commandant, Mr Akinsanya Abiodun, stated that the Corps in Delta State in collaboration with other security agencies is leaving no stone unturned to ensure the security of lives and properties of Deltans before, during and after the election.
