Nigeria Decides: INEC Declares Peter Obi Winner In Plateau Poll

Peter Obi, the candidate of the Labour Party, has been named the winner of the Plateau State presidential election.

Obi won eleven of the state’s seventeen Local Government Areas, while Tinubu and Atiku each won three.

Labour Party candidates won in Barkin Ladi, Riyom, Jos East, Langtang North, Bokkos, Mangu, Bassa, Jos South, Shendam, Pankshin, and Jos North LGAs, while ruling APC candidate Bola Tinubu won in Wase, Kanam, and Kanke LGAs, and PDP candidate Atiku Abubakar won in Quaan Pan, Langtang South, and Mikang LGAs.

Prof Shehu Abdulrahman, the State Returning Officer for the Presidential Election, declared the results, stating that the Labour Party candidate received 466, 272 votes.

Tinubu, the governing APC candidate, received 307, 195 votes, while Atiku, the PDP contender, received 243, 808 votes.

He praised the agents and other key stakeholders for maintaining order during the process and urged them to do the same in future elections.

In his remarks, the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Oliver Agundu, complimented the security services for their efforts in ensuring a smooth operation and urged them to continue to support the commission in their next polls.
