Following the appearance of the Labour Party’s (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, on the ballot paper in the recently concluded presidential and National Assembly elections, many first-timers with no political experience and from humble backgrounds who ran under the LP were fortunate to clinch the ticket for their respective constituencies.

In order to birth the ‘New Nigeria,’ Peter Obi asked his fans to vote heavily for LP across all posts in the elections, which they (His supporters) did, resulting in the displacement/removal of certain old politicians who had occupied the position for years.

The contenders listed below rode the tide of public support for Peter Obi’s election to government.
