13 Nigerian Athletes Compete For NCAA Titles

This weekend, 13 Nigerian athletes will compete in the Division 1 Indoor Track and Field of the Championships while the rest of the world gears up for the National Collegiate Athletic Association.

The NCAA indoor track and field championships will take place at the Albuquerque Convention Center from March 10–11, 2023, in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

The indoor championships won’t be held in New Mexico since 2014 unless they are staged there this year.
Godson Brume (60 metres), Favour Ashe (60 metres), Udodi Onwuzurike (200 metres), Alaba Akintola (60 metres, 200 metres), Nathaniel Ezekiel (400 metres), Erhire Best (High Jump), Favour Ofili (60 metres, 200 metres), and Rosemary Chukwuma are some of the Nigerian athletes involved (60m, 200m).

Others include Ezinne Abba (60m, 200m), Ella Onojuvwevwo (4x400m), Esther Isa (Long Jump), Onaara Obamuwagun (Triple Jump) Grace Anigbata (Triple Jump).

In his address ahead of the competition, the Director of Athletics, University of New Mexico, Eddie Nuñez, described the championships as a unique opportunity.
He added that the goal of New Mexico is to ensure all attendees have an enjoyable and memorable experience.

“Our staff has worked hard to put together a great championship and we have eagerly looked forward to this event for some time. Please know that all of us are here to ensure you have a good experience in Albuquerque, and we are happy to serve you and answer any questions you may have,” he said.
