The Federal Government has urged Nigerian youths to avoid violence while embracing dialogue to resolve issues in order to promote peace and national unity for the country’s growth and development.

The Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, made the appeal in Abuja while addressing newsmen on events set up for the observation of the 2023 Commonwealth Day planned to happen on Monday, March 13, 2023, with the theme ‘Forging a Sustainable and Peaceful Common Future’.
According to a statement made available to our correspondent on Wednesday, Adamu stated that Nigeria would always maximise the benefits of being a part of the supportive community of 56 member nations from Africa, Asia, America, the Caribbean, Europe, and the Pacific.

Speaking on the significance of the commemoration of the Commonwealth Day, the Adamu disclosed the member States promote commonwealth shared values every year during the commemoration and that in view of the conflict situation in some of the Commonwealth countries, like Nigeria and globally, this year’s celebration is calling on all young people to raise a ‘Flag of Peace’.
