Peter Okoye of the P-Square band, a popular Nigerian artist, has decried the ethnic situation in Lagos caused by the general elections.

The musician cautioned Nigerians not to become sentimental or carried away by the polls, claiming that politicians who don’t care about people are sowing discord among the various tribes that coexist in Lagos.

Following the fire at Akere Spare Parts Market in Olodi-Apapa, Ajegunle, Lagos, Peter claimed this in a tweet on Wednesday.

The arsonists, who have yet to be identified, set fire to the Igbo-dominated market, destroying property worth millions of Naira for suspected political purposes.

In addition, he stated that the two primary tribes in Lagos State, the Igbo and the Yoruba, do not hate each other, and that Nigerians must understand that politicians do not want the best for everyone regardless of tribe.

“I am an lgbo man married to a Yoruba woman! Igbos do not hate Yorubas. Neither do Yorubas hate Igbos. Politicians are using tribes as an excuse to cover their evil.

“They don’t like you whether Igbo or Yoruba. They only care about their pockets. Be wiser,” he tweeted.
