Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State has stated that the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, won in some states in the South-South and South-East regions in the February 25 election due to some relevant considerations.

According to media sources, the LP candidate won in Delta, Cross River, Edo, Abia, Ebonyi, Enugu, Imo, and Anambra states.

Speaking to reporters on Monday, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) vice presidential candidate stated that Obi won in the aforementioned states as a result of the South East presidential agitation.

He recognized that the people exercised their democratic rights by voting for Obi, but the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) did not obey the Election Act.

He said, “A lot of factors contributed to the sweeping victory of Obi in South-South and South-East.

“The agitation that the Presidency should come to the southern part of the country, religion and Igbo presidency are key factors.

“The Obidient movement is a movement that swept across the South-South and South-East. The people wanted Obi as a change. They believe it is the turn of South-East. I believe that people have exercised their rights in a democratic process but INEC did not follow the Electoral Act.”
