Investors Lose N36 Billion As The Stock Market Continues To Fall

The Nigerian Exchange Limited resumed its downward trajectory on Tuesday, with investors losing N36 billion at the close of trade.

The All-Share Index fell 65.47 points to 55,722.9, down from 55,788.37 points on Monday.

The market capitalization fell by 0.118 percent to N30.355 trillion at the end of the day.

In 3,898 transactions, a total of 199,268,791 shares worth N2.813 billion were exchanged on the trading floor.

Market sentiment remained negative, with 17 companies ending up on the losers’ table and only nine stocks advancing at the close of trade.

Topping the losers’ table were Chams which lost eight per cent to close trading at N0.23, Prestige Assurance Company which lost 7.32 in percentage terms to close at N0.38 and Linkage Assurance which closed at N0.41 after losing 6.82 per cent of its market value.
