Infantino Pays Mabo Respects

Gianni Infantino, the president of FIFA, has joined a number of others in paying tribute to Ismaila Mabo, the former head coach of the Super Falcons.

Mabo, 78, passed away on March 13 at his home in Jos, the Plateau State’s capital, following a protracted illness.

Infantino wrote a letter of condolence addressed to Ibrahim Gusau, the president of the Nigerian Football Federation, in which he expressed, on behalf of the entire football world, FIFA’s deepest condolences for the loss of the legendary player.

“I would like to express my sincerest and heartfelt condolences on the passing of the former women’s national team coach, Mabo Ismaila,” the statement reads.
“Words seem inadequate to express the sadness we feel for this loss. Former international player with regular appearances in the senior national team, he notably defended the colours of Mighty Jets FC in the late 1960s and 1970s.
