To the chagrin of Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour of the Labour Party and Abdul-Azeez Adediran aka Jandor of the Peoples Democratic Party, who both promised to retrieve their mandates in court, Sanwo-Olu of the ruling All Progressives Congress was declared victorious.

According to INEC, Sanwo-Olu received 762,134 votes, defeating Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, who received 312,329 votes, and Adediran, who received 62,449 votes.

Mrs. Dayo Ekong, the LP Chairman in Lagos, described the APC’s victory as “momentary” during a media briefing on Tuesday.

According to Ekong, the gubernatorial and assembly elections failed democratic tests, with attacks on loyalists and operatives of opposition parties, recalling how violence and threats thwarted voting in numerous polling units across the state.

“Ballot boxes were snatched and burnt; all manner of evil things happened. There was no credibility. It was not free, we will seek redress. Whatever it takes for us to get justice, we will do.

“The party would petition INEC, the police and the military over brutal attacks on some LP members. If the Lagos election goes unchallenged, it would set a bad precedent, urging the youth not to give up,” she added.
