2023 National Population Census Gets Fresh Date

The Federal Government has set a new date for the National Population and Housing Census in 2023.

Mr Niyi Adebayo, Chairman of the State Steering Committee for the 2023 census in Ekiti State and Special Adviser to the Governor on Budget, Economic Planning, and Performance Management, announced this during the committee’s meeting on Tuesday in Ado Ekiti, the state capital.

Adebayo revealed that the enumeration exercise had been rescheduled from the 29th of March to the 2nd of April 2023 from its original date of the 29th of March to the 2nd of April to allow for a smooth operation.

The Committee Chairman, who stated that postponing the headcount would allow for thorough planning and in-depth preparation, urged members of the committee, particularly the sub-committees, to spring into action to ensure that the exercise was a big success in the state.

He stated that the committee would give the public with all required information on the exercise.

The last population census was held in Nigeria in 2006, and it is intended to be repeated every 10 years in order to provide precise and up-to-date data on the people and buildings in a certain geographical place for development planning.
