Swearing-In Tinubu is Killing Nigeria Democracy– Baba-Ahmed tells Buhari, CJN

Datti Baba-Ahmed, the vice-presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), has advised President Muhammadu Buhari not to hold the inauguration of President-elect Bola Tinubu on May 29.

Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, was proclaimed the victor of the presidential election on March 1 by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

During Channels Television’s Politics Today on Wednesday, however, Baba-Ahmed stated that the APC had failed to meet the requirements of Section 134 (2)(a) and (b) of the Nigerian constitution for election to the position of President.

Baba-Ahmed told Buhari and the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, “Mr President, do not hold that inauguration.” Your Lordship, CJN, you do not engage in unconstitutionality.

“You cannot swear [in] people who haven’t met the constitutional requirements; you can’t do that.

“If you do it, you have done something unlawful, something unconstitutional.”
