The Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, is said to have returned to Nigeria after receiving medical treatment in London, England.

According to news sources, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and ally of Supreme Court Chief Justice Ahmed Raji stated this in a statement on Thursday in Ibadan, Oyo State’s capital.

Raji revealed that Justice Ariwoola traveled to London on Saturday for a normal medical check-up and returned on Thursday morning.

He also dismissed allegations that the CJN was spotted in London in a wheelchair, allegedly preparing to meet with President-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as untrue and intended to degrade the apex court and the chief justice’s reputation.

As a result, Raji advised Nigerians to fight politicians’ efforts to portray the judiciary as corrupt in order to advance their own selfish interests.

He said: “It is in the news since Tuesday evening that Tinubu was traveling to Europe for medical reasons as well as for lesser hajj, further reports indicated that he is in France to meet with his medical doctor, why would somebody now link that to the CJN that has left Nigeria for the UK since Saturday to observe his own medical session and just came back today (Thursday) as a meeting?
