See List Of Aspirants Screened By APC For Kogi, Bayelsa, Imo Guber Race

The All Progressives Congress (APC) screened 23 candidates for the party’s governorship ticket in Bayelsa, Kogi, and Imo States on Saturday.

According to news reports, Governor Hope Uzodinma is the sole aspirant for Imo State, as he was returned unchallenged when he appeared before the screening committee on Friday at the Ladi Kwali Conference Center, the screening location.

The committee is assessing candidates ahead of the ruling All Progressives Congress’s governorship primary elections on April 14. (APC).

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) set November 11, 2023, as the date for the three off-season governorship elections.

The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipreye Silva, 2019 Governor-elect, Chief David Pereworimini Lyon, Ogbomade Isikima Johnson, Prof. Ongoebi Etebu Maureen, Festus Daumiebi Sunday, and Joshua Maciver are among the Bayelsa State hopefuls inspected by the committee.

The incumbent Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Edward David Onoja, topped the list of vetted contestants vying to succeed Governor Yahaya Bello.

Others included Senator Smart Adeyemi, Chief of Staff to Governor Yahaya Bello, Abdulkareem Asuku, the party’s Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Muritala Yakubu Ajaka; Prince Shauibu Abubakar Audu, son of former Gov. Abubakar Audu; Sanusi Ohiare, former Executive Director, Rural Electrification Agency, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Barr. Salami Momodu O. Deedat and Usman Ododo, Auditor General, Local Government.

INEC Announce Date To Issue CoR to Governors-Elect, Assembly Members-elect

Senator Oseni Yakubu, Chairperson of the Senate Committee on ICT and Cyber Crime, Halima l. Alfa, Momoh Jibrin, Alh. Yusuf Yakubu Okala, Hon. Asiru Idris, Prof. Stephen Ikani Ocheni, Abubakar Yahaya Achimugu, Idachaba Friday, and David A. Jimoh were also screened.

Hon. James Abiodun Faleke had yet to appear at the screening location at the time the report was filed.
