The continuous absence of President-elect Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has purportedly generated tension in the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate’s camp in the recently concluded presidential election.

Notwithstanding the fact that Tinubu is celebrating his 71st birthday today (March 29), which he traditionally marks with a lecture series under the auspices of the Bola Tinubu Colloquium, the President-whereabouts elect’s and physical condition have continued to cause ripples among his political circle.

According to Newsmen, Tinubu’s spokesperson, Tunde Rahman, said on Monday that “the president-elect had commanded that prayers be offered across Lagos in honour of his 71st birthday anniversary” rather of the annual routine of the crowd-pulling colloquium.

According to sources within the ruling APC, Tinubu’s trip outside the nation, as well as reports of his worsening health, “are already making several leaders of the party worried.”

“Look at the way he left the country secretly. He was already out of the country before his spokesman released the press statement about the trip. No airport photos showing his departure and arrival at his destination. It’s strange for a President-elect of a country like Nigeria,” one source told the publication.

There were rising concerns among political heavyweights in both the ruling APC and the opposition parties about Tinubu being inaugurated as President on May 29, when incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari is due to step down.
