The Arewa Youth Assembly (AYA) has expressed reservations over Nigeria’s calls for an interim government.

The forum believes that such a step is not in the best interests of the country and could lead to even more instability and political uncertainty.

“The Arewa Youth Assembly wishes to express its strong opposition to proposals for an interim administration in Nigeria,” said Mohammed Salihu Danlami, Speaker of the Arewa Youth Assembly, in a statement issued on Monday in Kaduna. We believe that such a move is not in our country’s best interests and could lead to even more instability and political uncertainty.”

He stated that as a youth movement dedicated to Nigeria’s unity and progress, they are very concerned about recent calls for an interim government to replace the current administration.

He lamented, “We believe that such a move would be unconstitutional and could set a dangerous precedence for our democracy.”

According to him, the Arewa Youth Assembly thinks that since the 2023 general election was fair and credible as a result of the implementation of BVAS, and winners emerged, nothing should justify the formation of an Interim National Government.

The youngsters concluded that supporting the current government’s transition agenda while using the courts to seek restitution was the best approach to ensure political stability and continuity in Nigeria.

The Speaker asked all stakeholders to participate in constructive discourse and work together to find answers to Nigeria’s difficulties, emphasizing that only by working together can Nigerians build a strong, united, and prosperous Nigeria for all.

The Arewa Youth Assembly firmly condemned any attempt to impose an interim government in Nigeria, urging all Nigerians to support the current administration and President-elect Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as well as work for a better future for the country.
