2023 Census: FG Approves N15 Billion For ICT Devices

The Federal Government has approved two contracts totaling N15.3 billion for the delivery and installation of information and communication technology (ICT) devices for the 2023 population and housing census, which is scheduled to take place from May 3 to 5.

According to media sources, the money was used to purchase and install IT gear for the census.

Garba Shehu, Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, informed State House Correspondents of the development shortly after this week’s Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Shehu stated that the NPC’s ICT component was allocated N10.9 billion, while another N4.4 billion was approved for the development and implementation of a mobile device management solution for the exercise’s personnel digital assistance devices.

According to him, “Among those memos that were okayed today was the award of the contract for the supply and installation of information and communication technology components for the 2023 population census.

“The ICT component contract was awarded for about N10.9 billion.

“Another contract that was approved for the National Population Commission was one for the development and implementation of mobile device management solution for the personnel digital assistance devices to be used for the 2023 population census. This is in the sum of about N4.4 billion.”
