Clinton Amadi, the Labour Party (LP) candidate in the Imo State House of Assembly election for the Owerri Municipal State Constituency, has been released from police prison.
This comes only days after Amadi was caught at the Independent National Electoral Commission’s secretariat in Owerri, the state capital.
According to reports, the LP candidate was in the INEC office to get Certified True Copies of the INEC results in order to file his case with the Election Petitions Tribunal.

He was, however, freed on Thursday from the custody of the personnel of the Tiger Base of the state police command.
According to a source who spoke with Punch, Amadi was released when it was discovered that his attorneys had missed the deadline for filing the post-election petition at the Tribunal.
Fabian Ihekwueme, a state LP chieftain, also indicated that Amadi, who served as a lawmaker in the state House of Assembly between 2007 and 2011, had returned home.
He said, “He was released Thursday after they learnt that his Lawyers had already filed his Election petition in the Tribunal. They were keeping him because they didn’t want him to file his case. But luck ran out of them. Clinton has filed his case with the certified True Copies.”
