The Cherubim and Seraphim Unification Church of Nigeria has advised President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration not to arrest Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi and his running partner Datti Baba-Ahmed for treason.
The church’s Supreme Leader, Prophet Solomon Alao, cautioned that arresting Obi and Datti would inflame the political situation.
In his Easter address on Sunday, Alao stated that rather than frightening the opposition, the Federal Government should promise them of justice in court.

According to Alao: “The Federal Government must tread softly in dealing with Obi and Datti and stop the threat of arresting and prosecuting them for treason.
“We have not seen enough persuasion and conviction from the government and the ruling party to convince the opposition parties and their candidates that they will not interfere in the judicial process, and this is the time to do that.”
The cleric also warned Obi’s fans against their actions, saying they should quit making enemies for Obi.
Lai Mohammed, the Minister of Communication and Culture, recently accused Obi of “treason” for allegedly inciting people to unrest following the outcome of the presidential election.
