Abuja Court Rejects Lifting Abure’s Suspension as LP National Chairman

On Monday, the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory declined to overturn a temporary injunction prohibiting Mr. Julius Abure, the National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP), Mr. Farouk Ibrahim, and two other individuals from holding official positions within the party.

Instead, in response to an urgent request for the case to be reviewed quickly by the attorneys for the party’s embattled national officers, Justice Hamza Muazu set April 20 to hear all applications related to the case.

After a different faction forcibly took control of the Labour Party national secretariat, Alex Ejesieme [SAN], Abure’s attorney, had requested on Monday that the Court revoke the interim injunction and bring about some form of sanity.

However, Justice Muazu intervened and commanded all parties to the lawsuit to ensure prompt filing of their legal documents in order to facilitate a rapid hearing of the case.
