In a civil service state like Osun, civil servants can affect the outcome of an election, according to Kenneth Olutayo Tinubu, a former leader of the Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE, Osun state chapter.

Adegboyega Oyetola, the outgoing governor of Osun, was criticized by Tinubu for his treatment of employees. Tinubu claimed that Oyetola’s lack of support for the state’s government servants was the reason he lost the governor’s race on July 16, 2022.

On Monday in Osogbo, Tinubu announced this while participating in a special Workers’ Day edition of a radio current affairs show.

“They believed that the workers have nothing to offer and the workers showed them that they are ready to support any government that was ready to support them.

“Eighty percent of workers voted against the last government.”

Also, Tinubu said the promises made by the present Osun governor, Ademola Adeleke to the civil servants was the reason he won the election.

“When he wanted to come in, we held a meeting with him and he made promises to us. That was why the people voted for him.
