Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, the former emir of Kano, has been refuted by Joe Igbokwe, special adviser to the governor of Lagos State on drainage, about his assertion that Nigeria would be worse off if Yemi Osinbajo had been elected president.

Recall that Osinbajo ran for the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential ticket in May 2022 against Bola Tinubu, the president-elect, Rotimi Amaechi, the former minister of transportation, and others.

Sanusi, who spoke at the virtual launch of the book “Osinbajo Strides: Defining Moments of an Innovative Leader,” lamented how Nigeria would miss Osinbajo after the May 29 transfer and expressed hope that Osinbajo would still lead the country in the future.

APC leader Joe Igbokwe, however, responded to the former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria on his Facebook page on Wednesday.

Igbokwe asserts that if Osinbajo had won the nomination, the ruling party would have lost the February 25 presidential election to Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

He wrote, “Enemies of APC are talking. If Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu had not been on the ballot, APC would have lost to Atiku’s PDP by 12 noon on that day”.
