Tinubu’s Visit: Shehu Sani Faults Wike’s Public Holiday Declaration

The governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has been criticised for declaring a public holiday, according to Senator Shehu Sani.

To encourage locals to gather in large numbers to meet the incoming president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Wike proclaimed a public holiday in his state.

In a broadcast to the entire state on Tuesday, Wike ordered that all stores and commercial buildings in the Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the state remain closed on Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

After receiving his order, Sani responded on Twitter on Wednesday by denouncing Wike’s behaviour and asking Tinubu to do the same before it becomes the standard.

His words: “Commissioning a project is a mark of a great achievement. Kudos. But Grounding the economic, Social & educational activities of the state for that purpose is a mark of desperation for favours & accommodation by a lickspittle.

“Tinubu can say no to that or else it becomes the norm.”
