Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State, is welcome to join the All Progressives Congress (APC), according to Tony Okocha, a party chieftain.
Okocha reaffirmed Wike’s contribution to Asiwaju Bola Tinubu’s victory in the 2023 presidential election.
He stated that the Governor is welcome to join the APC if he wants to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

“Today, Governor Wike is one of those who is helping in the enthronement of our president-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. If Governor Wike wants to come to the All Progressives Congress, we will welcome him. But one thing is clear, I don’t think Nigeria wants to be a one-party country,” Okocha said while addressing journalists in Port Harcourt yesterday.
The APC chairman said, “Wike has done great things in terms of infrastructural developments in Rivers State,” even though he is not an apologist for the governor of Rivers State.
Okocha stated, “I am not an apologist for Governor Wike, but Governor Wike is the best on physical infrastructure development in Rivers State.”
Tonye Cole, the APC candidate for governor in the state for the 2023 elections, was not a financial contributor to the party’s march for the presidency in the state, he continued.
