Sale Mamman, a former minister of power, has been detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for his suspected involvement in a N22 billion fraud.

Newsmen reports that Mamman, who served as a minister for President Muhammadu Buhari from 2019 to 2021, was imprisoned at the anti-graft agency’s Abuja headquarters after being apprehended early on Wednesday.

Investigations into alleged wrongdoing in the management of various power projects are related to the arrest.

The former minister was charged with organizing a scheme to divert N22 billion and divide it among ministry employees in charge of the accounts for the Zungeru and Mambilla Hydro Electric Power projects.

Millions of dollars and naira have purportedly been recovered, and the investigations turned up assets in Nigeria and abroad that were allegedly connected to the accused.
