Seun Kuti, a Nigerian Afrobeats musician, has responded to the arrest warrant issued by Usman Baba, the Inspector-General of Police, for assaulting a police officer.
According to prior news reports, the musician was seen in a popular video attacking a police officer in uniform on Lagos State’s Third Mainland bridge.
The police chief requested his arrest on Saturday in response to the incident from the commissioner of police in Lagos State.

However, the Lagos Police Command confirmed the arrest order in a statement through its spokesperson Ben Hundeyin.
The statement reads: “IGP Orders Arrest Of Seun Kuti Over Police Assault.
“The IGP has equally ordered a speedy and full investigation into the remote and immediate cause(s) of the assault and prosecution of the suspect accordingly.
“IGP Usman Alkali Baba assures Nigerians that acts of contempt/disdain for symbols of authority will not be tolerated while offenders of such hideous crispy and full investigation into the remote and immediate cause(s) of the assault and prosecution of the suspect accordingly.
“IGP Usman Alkali Baba assures Nigerians that acts of contempt/disdain for symbols of authority will not be tolerated while offenders of such hideous crimes will be surely brought to book.”

Seun responded to the announcement on Instagram Stories by saying that he welcomes the probe and will cooperate fully.
His post reads: “I welcome the investigations and will give my full cooperation. I also pray to the IG that whoever is wrong should be indicted.”
