Taraba Pub Explosion Confirmed By Police

The Taraba State Police Command has confirmed an explosion at a small drinking establishment in the state capital, Jalingo.

Abdullahi Usman, a spokesman for the Police Command, told reporters that details about the explosion were still hazy, but that investigations by the anti-bomb squad were ongoing.

According to ANAEDOONLINE, the explosion occurred at 9 p.m. at Jika Drinking Spot in Dorowa and was caused by an improvised explosive device.

Some persons were confirmed to have been hurt, but no one was killed.

“Yesterday at 9pm, we were at a local joint called Jika, drinking, when something under the chair we were seated on exploded,” claimed an eyewitness, Peace Danjuma.

“The whole place was filled with smoke while we took to our heels.

“We ran outside for safety but the blast broke my friend’s leg.”
