May 29: Police Warn Protesters To Steer Clear Of Inauguration Venue

The state police command has issued a warning to miscreants aiming to disrupt the event just 72 hours before the inauguration of a new administration in Plateau State, telling them to stay away or face the full repercussions of their conduct.

The Command added that precautions had been taken to prevent any of the aforementioned breaches of peace.

DSP Alfred Alabo, the Command’s public relations officer based in Jos, the state capital, revealed this.

Alabo said, “In view of the forthcoming 29th May, 2023, gubernatorial handing over ceremony in the State, the Plateau State Police Command has issued stern warning to miscreants who planned to disrupt the handing over process to abort their evil intentions and stay away from the handing over venue or be ready to face the consequences when arrested.”

According to him, “As part of efforts to ensure a hitch-free transition ceremony, the Command has put in place adequate security measures to secure the venue of the event and other parts of the State.

“The Commissioner of Police, Plateau State Command, Bartholomew Onyeka, also advises those who have no business or role to play at the event to stay away from the venue of ceremony.

“The Command further urges residents, parents, guardians, religious and traditional leaders to advise their children, subjects and congregants to be law abiding and not to be part of any plans that may be inimical to the process.”

It urged the populace to alert the police or other appropriate local security organizations of any suspicious people or movements so that timely action could be taken.
