UPDATE: Twitter Removes Tinubu’s Verification Tag

On May 30, 2023, the Nigerian president Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s verification badge was taken down from the microblogging service Twitter.

According to Newsmen, this occurred just hours after Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, the recently-retired vice president of Nigeria, had his verification badge taken off on Monday.

Bola Tinubu’s verification tag was removed following his and Kashim Shettima’s inauguration as president and vice president, respectively, which resulted in an update to their social media profiles. In contrast, the account of the previous president, Muhammadu Buhari, retained its verification status.
