Everything is prepared for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to formally name Nuhu Ribadu as National Security Advisor (NSA), replacing former Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) chairman.

According to reports, the President chose Ribadu for the position of senior security officer over two other contenders.

According to sources, Tinubu considered the three candidates for the NSA position before deciding on Ribadu, who is widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s experienced individuals in the field of security and law enforcement, as part of his efforts to fulfill his promise to deliver a “bold, no-nonsense crime prevention reform” to protect Nigerians.

The NSA acts as the President’s main security adviser, coordinating several security agencies, providing intelligence assessments, and developing policies to deal with the security issues facing the country.

According to sources, Tinubu was determined to choose someone who can effectively help address the nation’s urgent security challenges. The NSA position requires a capable and experienced individual who can navigate complex security issues and provide the President with sound advice.

According to insiders, President Tinubu likes Ribadu’s knowledge and commitment to public service and has high admiration for him.

Recall that Tinubu had announced the nomination of Senator Akume George as Secretary to the Government of the Federation and House of Representatives Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila as Tinubu’s Chief of Staff.

He was given the responsibility of looking into and prosecuting financial crimes, including corruption, money laundering, and fraud, when President Olusegun Obasanjo nominated him EFCC chairman in 2023.
