False rumors that Ondo State Governor Rotimi Akeredolu had passed away have flooded social media and several online news outlets.
The state is concerned about the new worries regarding Akeredolu’s health because it is unclear what the actual situation is.
On Friday, June 2, The ICIR was purportedly informed by official sources that the governor required “serious prayers” since his health was failing.
According to a source, the governor would leave Nigeria today, June 3, for medical care.

However, Newsmen is aware that the State Governor and other government officials have refuted these accusations.
“Please, ignore them, I was with Gov. Akeredolu this morning at Ibadan. I went to visit him. He is hale and hearty. He was cool and okay. Please quote me and sign on it on my behalf,” Rt. Hon. Victor Olabimtan, Chairman, Ondo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) and former Speaker, Ondo-State House of Assembly, had said when asked about the rumours.
A video of the reportedly unwell governor watching the FA Cup Final between Manchester City and Manchester United has also surfaced online.
