The Trade Union Congress (TUC) and members of the Bola Tinubu-led federal government are currently meeting to discuss the effects of ending the fuel subsidy.
The ongoing meeting at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja reportedly began at around five o’clock.
In an interview with Punch on Sunday, TUC Secretary General Nuhu Toro confirmed the gathering and stated that “the meeting will start by 4 p.m.”

This scheduled meeting comes after an earlier attempt at communication with the organized labor sector that failed to produce a settlement.
Recall that on Wednesday, representatives of organized labor, notably the TUC and the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), met with the administration in an ineffective manner.
The team representing the federal government is being headed at the conference by Senator George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).
Others include Mele Kyari, Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), the former Governor of Edo State, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, and Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele.

The National Sugar Development Council’s (NSDC) Executive Secretary, Zacch Adedeji, Executive Vice President, Downstream, Yemi Adetunji, former Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Dele Alake, and Hon. James Faleke are among those present at the meeting.
Seven people make up the TUC side, including their president, Festus Osifo.
