Presidential Tribunal: Peter Obi Tenders Results Of Eight More States

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Labour Party (LP), presented additional presidential election results from eight different states on Monday before the Presidential Election Petition Court in Abuja.

The outcomes from the states of Ebonyi, Nasarawa, Delta, Kaduna, Imo, Ondo, Sokoto, and Kogi were investigated and accepted as evidence by the panel headed by Justice Haruna Tsammani.

There were presented results for different numbers of local government areas (LGAs) in each state, ranging from seven LGAs in Sokoto to 26 LGAs in Imo. All of these were identified as exhibits.

Obi, who finished third in the presidential race won by President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress, promised to present further evidence in court to back up his allegations of election rigging.

Patrick Ikweto, Obi’s attorney, apologized for the delayed filing of the court-related documents and discussed a new application that would be made at the following adjournment.

Prince Lateef Fagbemi, the attorney for the APC, lashed out at the petitioner for failing to abide by the pre-hearing report’s mandate to file and serve documents at least 24 hours before the hearing in response to this.

Obi and the Labour Party are specifically contesting the legitimacy of President Tinubu’s win.

They contend that Tinubu was ineligible to run because of prior legal troubles and that Shettima was still the official nominee for a Senate race.

In addition, they contend that violations of the Electoral Act and corrupt acts rendered the election illegitimate.

The petitioners ask the court to rule that Tinubu’s ineligibility rendered all votes cast for him and the APC useless.

They are asking for either a declaration that Obi won on the basis of the uncounted votes or a directive to hold a new election in which Tinubu, Shettima, and the APC would not run.
