Alex Otti, the recently-installed governor of Abia State, has vowed to fulfill his pledge to the state’s citizens upon taking office.
According to Newsmen, Otti made the commitment on Sunday during a sermon during an interdenominational church service to commemorate his inauguration.
The Abia governor predicted that the people of Abia will soon celebrate after thanking God for the outcome of the March 18 governorship election.

He said: “This is the time for the people of God to rejoice. The book of Proverbs 29 verse 2 says that when the righteous is in power the people rejoice, and I know that Abia people are going to rejoice very soon.”
Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate for the elections of 2023, also spoke out and asked the incoming governor of Abia to care for the state’s underprivileged citizens.
The wellbeing of the people, according to Obi, is a key component of good governance. He counseled Otti to always be grateful for God’s favor in his life.
He said: “Do not abuse the grace of God. Let everything you do be for the good of the poor people in Abia. Let the poor people be happy, let the retirees and pensioners be happy.”
The former governor of Anambra urged the populace to pray for the nation, which is currently, in his opinion, in a dire situation.
