The Labour Party’s (LP) Mr. Peter Gregory Obi and his party requested that exhibits be submitted in 17 states of the federation opposing the election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, but the Independent National Electoral Commission, or INEC, strenuously objected.

The INEC, which provided the exhibits to Obi and the Labour Party, objected to their being tendered. The exhibits, primarily form EC8B, were used by the electoral body in compiling results at the ward level of the states during the February 25 presidential election.

While contesting the admissibility of the documents, INEC advised the court to hear his arguments at the address after being represented at the Presidential Election Petition Court, PEPC, by Senior Advocate of Nigeria SAN, Steve Adehi.

When introducing the documents, Obi’s attorney and Senior Advocate of Nigeria SAN, Mr. Benbella Anachebe, said that the exhibits were taken from INEC’s custody.

Additionally, according to Anachebe, the electoral body properly verified the documents before distributing them to his customers.

Along with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC), who were proclaimed the winners of the election, INEC, which administered the election in question, also objected to the exhibits’ admittance.

The pre-hearing report, as well as the counsel agreements, state that the objections’ justifications must be held until the petition’s hearing’s address phase.

The exhibits were offered and accepted in the following states: Adamawa, Bayelsa, Benue, Kogi, Nasarawa, Ondo, Sokoto, Delta, Ekiti and Niger.
