Idris Wase, the departing Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, recounted that former Plateau State Governor Solomon Lar had predicted in 2007 that he would become Speaker of the Green Chamber.

Lar, the PDP chieftain, allegedly foretold several times that he would serve in the lower legislative chamber and eventually climb to the position of number four in the nation.

Wase expressed optimism that the prophecy would come to true on Wednesday during the 9th House of Representatives’ final session in Abuja.

“I will tell this crowd and the world that he (Lar) said I’ll come to this assembly…and prophesied even the leadership I’ll attain (including) the deputy speaker. And he prophesied that the next time when I return I’ll be the speaker. Insha Allah, I’ll be the speaker of this chamber.”

According to news sources, Tajudeen Abbas, the favored candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), is being challenged by Wase, who represents the Wase Federal Constituency in Plateau state, for the speakership post.

Other candidates in the election, like Wase, rebelled against the party’s nominations, adamantly stating that they would not resign for Abbas.
