Award-winning Ghanaian actress Yvonne Nelson has admitted that following a brief relationship with rapper Sarkodie, she had an abortion in 2010.

At the Sunday book launch for “I am not Yvonne Nelson” at Peduase Lodge in Ghana, Yvonne said this.

In chapter eight of her new book, on pages 88–95, the actress described the purported abortion.

When a sexually active young woman misses her monthly flow, the most logical conclusion becomes that she is pregnant. Yvonne writes, “I had gone for a pregnancy test to confirm that. Karen and I were together.Additionally, I lacked the strength to open the test results when they were ready. She did so and gave the ruling. Charlie, it’s there, she yelled.

“On an ordinary day, I would have laughed out loud and that would trigger a string of jolly conversations and jokes. But this was no laughing matter. It was a grim piece of information that was capable of turning my world upside down.

“I wasn’t the only one responsible for the situation, so I called the man whose potent seed had germinated in me. His name is Michael Owusu Addo, a renowned Ghanaian musician who is better known as Sarkodie”

On her relationship with the rapper, Yvonne added, “I wouldn’t call what had developed between us a serious relationship. I gravitated toward people in the music industry.”

In the book, Yvonne narrated how she had attempted to abort the pregnancy by taking concoctions from a colleague but the substance could not work as a test carried out revealed she was still pregnant.

The actress further recalled finally succeeding in aborting the pregnancy but said it is one of the most regrettable mistakes in her life.
She added that if the clock of life could be rewound to her younger self, she would have kept it.
