INEC Set To Commence Review Of 2023 General Election, Date Revealed

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) said on Thursday that a post-election assessment of the 2023 general election will begin in July.

This was revealed in a statement signed by INEC National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Mr Festus Okoye.

The declaration came after INEC’s regular meeting on Thursday in Abuja.

Okoye explained that the judgment was consistent with the Commission’s previous practices.

He stated that the review would look at all elements of electoral operations before, during, and after the elections.

Okoye stated that the assessment would include Commission officials at the national and state levels, as well as stakeholders, in order to learn lessons and define a course forward.

“The review will commence with a meeting of the Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) on July 4 and end with the Commission’s retreat on August 5,” he said.
