Police Detain Two For Stealing Diesel From Govt Generator In Ekiti

Two individuals involved in siphoning fuel from the generating facilities used to power the street lights in Ado Ekiti, the state capital, have been detained by members of the Rapid Response Squad of the Ekiti State Police Command.

The two suspects, Danjuma and Idowu, were detained on Wednesday by men from RRS along NTA Road in Ado Ekiti while attempting to flee with a 25-liter gallon of fuel that was allegedly stolen from the generating set, according to the police public relations officer Sunday Abutu.

“The suspects confessed to committing the crime during questioning,” Abutu stated.The suspects admitted that they had been dishonestly selling stolen diesel to Ado-Ekiti locals for a while. In due course, they would be charged, the police spokesperson promised.

Abutu called on Ekiti residents to always be security conscious and endeavor to report any untoward incident around them to security operatives to take necessary actions.
