Three Suspected Robbers Killed In Delta

Three robbery suspects have been slain by men from the Delta State Police Command.
In addition, the command reportedly found a pump-action gun and six live rounds in an abandoned backpack, according to state police spokesman DSP Bright Edafe, who confirmed this to City Round in Asaba.

“On Thursday, June 22, 2023, members of the ‘B’ Division in Warri, under the direction of the DPO, SP Bolarinwa Alabi, responded to a distress call regarding an armed robbery operation along Ugborikoko/Giwa-Amu Airport Road,” he stated.

“The hoodlums were driving a black Toyota Corolla that was not registered. When the police squad arrived on the site, the hoodlums fired bullets at the policeman after spotting them.

“They engaged them in a serious gun duel during which three of the hoodlums were fatally wounded, while other members of the gang escaped with bullet injuries.”

Edafe said the injured suspects gave up the ghost while being taken to a hospital.

He said items recovered from them included one cut-to-size locally fabricated gun, two live cartridges, an unregistered black Toyota Corolla car, and eight different vehicle keys.
In another development, Edafe said the command recovered one pump-action gun and six live cartridges in an abandoned bag.

According to Edafe, operatives of the Rapid Response Squad, while on a visibility building patrol along Asaba-Benin Expressway by Issele Asagba, sighted a suspicious-looking man with a sack, pretending to be waiting for a vehicle.

He said as soon as the operatives alighted from their vehicle, the suspect took to his heels, abandoning the bag.

“Upon searching the abandoned bag, one pump-action gun and six live cartridges were recovered. Effort is on to arrest the fleeing suspect,” Edafe added.
