Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Director General of the World Trade Organization, has explained why she reportedly substituted President Bola Tinubu in a previous social media post.
According to news reports, Okonjo-Iweala uploaded images of herself and other presidents at the Paris Global Financial Summit on her Twitter profile but did not post a photo of herself with Tinubu.
“More images from the Summit for a New Global Financing Pact in Paris. With HE President @LulaOficial HE President @Macky_Sall HE President @CyrilRamaphosa and HE President @HHichilema”

However, there were varied reactions to her tweet, with some claiming it was a jab on President Tinubu for her to recognize and share photos with other Presidents but omitting to post the photo she had with the Nigerian leader.
Following the reaction, the former finance minister uploaded images of herself and Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari exchanging pleasantries at the conference in a subsequent post.
On Saturday, Okonjo-Iweala responded to the outrage on Twitter, clarifying that she posted images in the order they were received by her accompanying staff and colleagues.
She, on the other hand, expressed dismay with the attacks on her by Nigerians, claiming that it demonstrates the depth of polarization in our country.

She said: “Nigerians please relax! Re Paris, Interesting attacks from both sides. Sadly shows the depth of polarization in our society. I post photos in the order received by accompanying staff or colleagues. Reading more into it is unwarranted. Let’s unite to build our country not attack!”
