Ex-Bauchi Gov, Isa Yuguda Reveals Those Involved In Fuel Subsidy Scam

Isa Yuguda, a former Bauchi State Governor and former Minister of State for Transportation and Aviation, has claimed that the Nigerian Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Limited and other businesses are implicated in the gasoline subsidy scheme.

Yuguda said that while he was Chairman of the Subsidy Subcommittee under the Goodluck Jonathan administration in 2009, the national oil firm paid subsidies for pipelines that did not exist.

According to news reports, the former governor made the claim during an interview with Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on Monday, June 26, 2023.

Yuguda further said that his committee delivered the report to President Jonathan but that nothing was done about the inquiry, emphasizing that President Muhammadu Buhari did not act on the expose either.

He further stated that a former Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, hired chartered accountants to investigate subsidy claims and discovered that N2 billion was spent on petrol subsidies.
