Court jailed Ex-Eaglets Player For Rape In Denmark

Akinkunmi Amoo, a former Golden Eaglets star and current forward for FC Copenhagen of Denmark, was given a one-year prison term for sexual assault by a Danish court.
Osasu Obayiuwana, a former BBC World Football correspondent, tweeted confirmation of his sentencing.
Amoo received his punishment on Friday, June 23, 2023.

“Breaking: On Friday, a Copenhagen court sentenced striker Akinkunmi Amoo to one year in prison for sexual assault. Amoo plans to challenge the ruling, Osasu tweeted.

When the winger was hit with criminal accusations by Danish authorities in April, July, and August 2022, he was in the center of the controversy.

He was arrested on September 10, 2022, before being released on bail on October 7.
Details of the outcome of Friday’s trial were published by Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet.

The report partly reads: “This is the outcome of the trial, which has been going on for most of June, where a top player in Danish football has been charged with rape in a sexual relationship other than intercourse, as well as attempted rape and violations of two more women.
